Atuh Beach Nusa Penida is a beach located in the eastern part of Nusa Penida, which is not far from the diamond beach. This destination offers natural beauty with views of the Indian Ocean and cool limestone cliffs. Unlike Suwehan Beach, this one is no secret and there are sun loungers, beanbags, and some great food & drink stalls here.
Diamond Beach may beat this as the most Instagrammable beach in Nusa Penida, but both are amazing! In this travel guide, we will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go there.
Before you arrive at Atuh Beach Nusa Penida, first you are treated to a view that is no less interesting than the ocean view, namely; a stretch of lush coconut trees neatly lined up as if to form a garden decoration pattern.
How to Get to Atuh Beach Nusa Penida
Atuh Beach is on the east side of the island of Nusa Penida. Accessible by car or motorbike, about 1-hour drive from the main jetty and accommodation in North Nusa Penida. Be careful if you ride a motorbike as the roads are rough and may be dangerous in some places if you don’t slow down!
From the Atuh Beach parking lot, take a short walk and then take the stairs to the beach.
Near to the beach, you can find parking areas on both sides of the beach, but I recommend using the parking area at Diamond Beach and then you can walk through the access that leads to Diamond Beach. Because the access road to Atuh Beach is after access to Diamond Beach.
If you are looking for more info on how to get to the island of Nusa Penida, you can find it here.
The access road to Atuh Beach Nusa Penida
Locals built a concrete staircase to go down to the beach in 2016. Not too pretty, but more practical. Now it’s done with 166 steps. The way down is quite easy. The walk uphill is a bit more tiring, especially since some of the stairs are very high. The stairs on the left side of the beach are slightly shorter so you can reach the beach from above in less than twenty minutes.
But if you want to see Diamond Beach, you have to hike on the other side of the beach because Atuh Beach is not far from Diamond Beach
What to do at Atuh Beach Nusa Penida?
Although this beach is in an area that is difficult to reach, you can find several stalls selling drinks and food here. Each stall also provides tables and chairs for every visitor who stops by. You will find umbrellas and sun loungers on the beach. There is also a small warung serving fruit juices, grilled fish, and Indonesian specialties. Like anywhere in Nusa Penida, watch the waves and currents as you swim.
Atuh Beach is not yet part of the daily tours sold to tourists. Therefore, it is still very pleasant to spend the day there if the weather is nice. Especially if the tide is not too low because the sand will leave a place for small stones to enter the water.
There are also those who use their time to just sunbathe and snorkel, while we? We just choose to sit, play in the sand, and run on the beach
Use a Private Driver is recommended
If you want to explore Nusa Penida with comfort and safety as a top priority, my top recommendation is Caneza Bali Tour. The price starts from IDR 600,000 ($45) full include for a full day tour in the Nusa Penida Tour Packages (up to 10-12 hours).
You can also join the Nusa Penida snorkeling tour while visiting Atuh Beach. If you want to enjoy Atuh Beach without a time limit to your heart’s content, Caneza Bali Tour also provides Nusa Penida tour packages 2 days 1 night.
All tour packages are highly recommended for those of you who want to discover the true beauty of Nusa Penida Island.
